Diocese of Lake Charles (Spec)

Client:

The Diocese of Lake Charles participates in iGiveCatholic* for the first time in 2021.

Challenge:

The Diocese of Lake Charles builds its iGive Catholic campaign as a strategic partnership with the Archdiocese of New Orleans & Houma-Thibodaux after Hurricane Ida. Its goal is to raise $50,000 for storm victims in Southeast Louisiana a year after those same people flocked to their aid post-Hurricane Laura.

Campaign objectives are:

  • $50,000 in donations

  • 20% email newsletter open rate

  • 500 social media photo contest entries

This spec campaign employs multi-platform communications, strategic partnerships, community events, plus a hallmark Finale event to raise money, increase volunteers, and show solidarity with Ida's most affected areas.

Tone:

Positive, Hopeful, Urgent

Solution & Strategy:

Campaign deliverables include social media content, church bulletin announcements, and email newsletters in churches & schools, plus an online press release during the 3-week sprint.

As a copywriter with background in PR, I created a spec press release and found a hook that made it newsworthy, urgent, and unique to local media outlets for Giving Tuesday. The social media posts contain clear calls-to-action for the target audience to follow and help reach campaign objectives.

iGiveCatholic is a nationwide fundraiser that unites Catholics on Giving Tuesday and the charitable giving season.
