Email Copy
KAK Art & Designs #1
Client:
Katherine Klimitas is the owner of KAK Art & Designs. She paints custom watercolor pet portraits and sells unique wild animal products on Etsy (mugs, pillows, blankets, trivets, and more).
Challenge:
Katherine is hosting an art show in November and asked her email list for help with the title.
The goal is for readers to click through and submit ideas through a Google Form.
Tone:
Friendly, positive, conversational
Solution & Strategy:
The copy is warm and conversational (her brand voice) but also conveys urgency because of the tight turnaround. The email was sent on a Friday with a Monday night submission deadline.
I kept the headline straightforward and focused on the main benefit to readers, included an hourglass emoji to emphasize the time crunch, and included an attention-grabbing call-to-action button.
The result? More than 90 entries in 3 days!
Subject: Rachel, I need your opinion
Snippet: Just 1 question
KAK Art & Designs #2
Client:
Katherine Klimitas is the owner of KAK Art & Designs. She paints custom watercolor pet portraits and sells unique wild animal products on Etsy (mugs, pillows, blankets, trivets, and more).
Challenge:
Katherine’s Etsy sales have dropped, so she wants to send newsletters to her subscriber list twice a month to keep them engaged and build relationships.
The main goal is for subscribers to click through the email and purchase products.
Tone:
Friendly, positive, conversational
Solution & Strategy:
This newsletter spotlights one of Katherine’s newest umbrella designs. The call-to-action is Shop Umbrellas Now to drive sales.
The copy is warm and conversational in her brand voice, drawing her readers in with a short story about festival season. I included the five bird designs in a bulleted list and closed with the call-to-action.
Katherine’s April newsletters resulted in a 4x increase in Etsy sales month-over-month!
Subject: The one thing you need for Jazz Fest
Snippet: Umbrellas are here, but not for long ☂️
Johnson’s Baby (Spec)
Client:
Johnson’s Baby seeks to create awareness of its new baby conditioner for infants and toddlers.
Challenge:
Johnson’s Baby wants consumers to click through this email and redeem the digital coupon to save on the product.
Tone:
Friendly, sincere, knowledgeable, helpful
Solution & Strategy:
I collaborated with graphic designer Raquel Peterson on a spec email campaign to drive traffic to Johnson’s Baby website and persuade subscribers to download a coupon to purchase the conditioner.
The warm copy and design work together to highlight the benefits of the product for both infants and toddlers, spotlighting the bond between parent and child and not alienating either age group.
